2016 L.J. Hart & Company Scholarship Recipient
Taylor Hernandez is a graduate of Sherwood High School in Creighton, MO. She is currently a student at the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, MO working on a major in Elementary Education.
Taylor notes that the character traits that she learned growing up in rural Missouri have made her the person she is today. Those traits include a strong work ethic, a compassionate heart and the charge to live life with integrity and passion. Taylor indicates that she has always wanted to be a teacher and that working with struggling students came naturally to her. She hopes to teach in the community that she lives in and offer the same excellent experiences to her students that she received from her teachers.
One of her college instructors notes that Taylor is a natural teacher. Her lessons are carefully planned and aimed at helping students learn in an atmosphere of respect, collaboration and caring. Taylor will be an amazing teacher. The district that offers her employment will be “lucky”. Taylor works at the Sherwood Bank and has taken advantage of the opportunity to get to know the customers in her home community. This coupled with her work volunteering in mission efforts has prepared Taylor for the opportunities that lie ahead.
Her desire to become a teacher and future administrator in the community that she lives in makes it appropriate to congratulate Taylor Hernandez as the 2016 L.J. Hart Scholarship recipient.
