Nicholas D. Straatmann

2009 L. J. Hart & Co Scholarship

Nicholas D. Straatmann

Nicholas Straatman is a graduate of the Washington High School, Washington, Missouri.  He is currently attending the University of Missouri - Columbia, Missouri, working on a major in Secondary English Education.

Nicholas shares that his desire to teach in a rural community stems from his upbringing.  He was born and raised in a rural community and is very thankful for the well-rounded experience it offered him.  Young adults growing up in an urban and suburban setting rarely have the opportunity to appreciate the science and expertise behind the cultivation of crops and raising of livestock.

Nicholas goes on to share that reading and writing have always been his passions, and he enjoys the opportunity to share his passion with his classes each day.  I hope that through my dedication of teaching of English and my ability to relate to the rural lifestyle, I will inspire students to develop into balanced men and women who never tire of learning.

One of his former teachers shares that number one, Nick is a goal setter who achieves his dreams.  He is meticulous in planning his future and then with his exceptional leadership ability, follows through to complete the task at hand.

One of his college instructors shares that Nick brings to teaching an energy that is unfailing.  When interacting with fellow students, he is consistently positive, passionate about what he is doing, and downright fun to be around.

Congratulations to Nicholas Straatmann the 2009 L.J. Hart & Company Scholarship recipient.
