Luella Yoder - 2020 "Missouri Education Health Group Scholarship" Recipient

Luella Yoder

Luella is a graduate of Pleasant Hill High School in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.  She is currently a student at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg working on a major in Elementary Education.

Luella shares, "I was raised in a small town called Pleasant Hill.  Throughout my thirteen years as a student in the Pleasant Hill R-III School District, I was shaped by the experiences I had in my classrooms.  One of the main reasons those experiences were so enjoyable is because of the incredible teachers I was blessed with each year.  My favorite teachers showed intelligence, compassion, patience and a lighthearted spirit with my classmates and I.  They were approachable, friendly and trustworthy.  I am sincerely thankful for being a student in classrooms with teachers of the highest quality and competence.  I always wanted to be just like my teachers.  Someday, I hope to make this dream a reality by becoming a fantastic teacher myself."

A college professor shares that "Luella knows what it takes to be a distinguished teacher and she is committed to becoming one.  She has proven herself as a confident and knowledgeable educator.  She has often shared her commitment to small-town education.  She is a strong academic student who has volunteered to coach at her local high school as well as teach at her local church.  Another professor notes, "It is apparent that Ms. Yoder is a life-long learner.  Her high school academic success, athletic achievements and service activities prepared her well for collegiate endeavors and her work with children.  As an undergraduate student, she is continuously seeking ways to build her skills and reflect on her teaching.  Her passion and dedication to educating all children, particularly children who face challenges in an out of the classroom, will be an asset wherever she may serve."

It is our pleasure to present Luella Yoder the 2020 Missouri Education Health Group Scholarship award!
