2007 Outstanding Rural Senior High Student

Michelle Kay Wright

Michelle Kay Wright is a senior at Santa Fe High School in Alma, Missouri.  She has attended Santa Fe for the last nine years.  Michelle is best described as one who is a dedicated, focused student with very high standards and goals for success in life. 

Michelle is the student that anyone would definitely want others to follow.  She has been a tremendous role model for students at Santa Fe, both in the academic and club areas. 

While attending Santa Fe, Michelle has been active as a member of several clubs and activities, including the National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of American, volleyball, dance and student council. Other extra curricular activities around the school and in the community where she has held several offices have included Spanish Club, FCCLA, SADD, Math Club, and the Sweet Springs Optimist Club. Her involvement in several of the extra curricular programs, have provided recognition, including the receipt of trophies and medals at district and state contests.   Her organizational skills and tremendous work ethic including extra study with college texts have paid off in her grades and her ACT scores.   

Michelle is recognized as having national achievement in the top ten level in the national Future Business Leaders of America contests.  Receiving 2nd place in Business Law her Junior year, 7th place in International Business her Sophomore year, and 4th in Introduction to Business her Freshman year.  She is described as being dedicated to education, life, and success, accomplishing all of those goals to date. 

Using many of the skills she has been able to acquire, Michelle has been able to work as an Employment Bank Teller, working 8 hours/week during the school year, and 40/hours/week during the summer, at a local Alma bank. 

As Michelle approaches the next phase in her life to attend the University of Missouri at Columbia, she will leave Santa Fe High School having received the recognition of first in her class, with a GPA of 4.29 on a four-point scale, and graduating in May with 30 college credit hours, achieving a 5 on the AP Biology.   

Michelle Kay Wright is an exemplary role model for both the students and staff of the Santa Fe School District making her most deserving as the Outstanding Missouri Rural Secondary Student for 2007.
