Taylor Miller - 2016 Frank "Dean" Cone Scholarship Recipient

 

Taylor Miller is a graduate of Smithville High School in Smithville, MO.  She is currently a student at the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO working on a major in Early Childhood Education. 

Taylor shares that she wants to teach in a rural setting to make sure that her students receive a fair and quality education.  She is looking forward to becoming an advocate for her students and building trusting relationships with her students and their families.  She is committed to developing her students into respectful and culturally aware citizens who can succeed wherever they locate.   

One of her references noted that Taylor is a spirited and enthusiastic presence both on campus and in the community.  She is committed to participating in service projects.  A college instructor shares that she is responsible, ambitious and a strong leader.   She takes learning in general and her personal education very seriously.  Another instructor notes that because of her rural upbringing, Taylor will have the experience and understanding of the unique needs of her rural students. 

Her desire to make a positive impression and leave a great imprint on her students’ lives, makes it appropriate that we recognize Taylor Miller as the 2016 Frank “Dean” Cone Scholarship recipient.
