Bailey Owens - 2020 "Forrest T. Jones Scholarship" Recipient

Bailey Owens

Bailey is a graduate of Mercer High School in Mercer, Missouri.  She is currently a student at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville working on a major in Early Childhood Education with certification in Early Childhood Special Education.

Bailey shares, "When I think about the reasons I would like to teach in a rural Missouri community, I think back to my time as a student.  As a student, I was blessed with teachers that not only taught me academically, but they cared, they supported, and they loved me.  The teachers, coaches and community members truly made a difference in my life, and I hope I can do the same thing for my students."

A college professor shares, "I highly recommend Bailey for this scholarship because she is a hard worker, determined to succeed and committed to making a difference in the lives of children."  Another professor adds, "I believe Ms. Owens exemplifies what an excellent teacher is - hard working, knowledgeable, nurturing and well versed in all academic areas."

It is our pleasure to present Bailey Owens the 2020 Forrest T. Jones Scholarship award!
