Jessica M. Worth

2016 Ray Doerhoff Scholarship Recipient

Jessica M. Worth - 2016 Ray Doerhoff Scholarship Recipient

Jessica Worth is a graduate of Kelly High School in Benton, MO.  She is currently a student at Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau, MO working on a major in Early Childhood/Elementary Education (B-6).

Jessica notes that she has dreamed of becoming a teacher since she was eleven (11) years old.  Her dream was inspired in part by the active role that she took in tutoring a younger sibling who struggled with school work as an elementary student.  That experience solidified her desire to become a champion for students who need someone to go the extra mile to make sure that they succeed.  Jessica has served as a paraprofessional and as a substitute teacher at Kelly Elementary School.  Those direct experiences have further assured her of her calling to be a teacher.

One of her college instructors notes that Jessica is organized, dependable, involved, hard-working and dedicated to developing as an educator.  Another instructor notes that she is efficient, cooperative and has great potential for success as a rural teacher.

Her commitment to become a “caring teacher” that contributes to the improvement of our society by positively shaping the lives of her students makes it appropriate to congratulate Jessica Worth as the 2016 Ray Doerhoff Scholarship recipient.
