National Tobacco Youth Series

Tobacco Youth Panel

Dear Youth Partners,

I am so happy to share and two upcoming events sponsored by reACT Montana in collaboration with Missouri and six other states. Please check out the attached promotional video and the information below.

NATIONAL YOUTH PANEL (intended audience, allies)

May 25, 2021, National Youth Panel at 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM CST. We feature seven state programs, including- Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Missouri, and Montana. We will have a panel of seven youth on the panel, one representing each state. This event is designed for adults to hear from passionate youth and pose questions to panelists about tobacco work.

Missouri's youth is Ashok Kothamasu, fifteen from Ballwin, MO at Parkway South. Through his program Teen Voices For Change they worked on educating teachers, parents, and the school board on the hazards of electronic cigarettes and solutions. One special event they did was a thankyou merchant ID campaign where we went to local merchants that we close to our school and checked ID's and thanked them for following the law. Ashok, is passionate about tobacco use because of the dangers of secondhand smoke he learned first-hand in India, with a call to action in preventing its impact in my community.

NATIONAL YOUTH COLLABORATION SESSION (intended audience, youth leaders)

August 3, 2021, National Youth Collaboration Session at 2:00 PM - 2:30 PM CST.  (This is a youth-only event.) Featuring seven state programs, including; Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Missouri, and Montana. This event's focus is a facilitated brainstorming of ideas to implement and share best practices across the country. The session will include collaboration as a large group and in breakout rooms with representation from all participating states.
