SRSA Annual Application Period - New Process to Receive Grants

Beginning with the FY 2017 grant award cycle, eligible local education agencies (LEAs) will need to submit an application to the Department every year in order to receive an SRSA formula grant. The new, annual application process ensures that all SRSA grantee contact information will be updated at least yearly, thereby enabling the Department to communicate more efficiently and effectively with grantee LEAs.

The SRSA application period for FY 2017 opens TODAY and ends at 4:30 p.m. Washington, DC, time on June 30, 2017. The SRSA application, along with the application instructions, is now available on Grants.gov.

If your LEA is eligible for SRSA, be sure to submit an application before the deadline Grant award amounts will depend on the statutory allocation formula, the number of LEAs that receive awards, and the amount of money Congress has allocated for SRSA.

Dual-eligible LEAs that do not submit an SRSA application will be designated as eligible for the Rural, Low-Income School (RLIS) program, and will need to follow their individual States' RLIS application guidelines in order to receive an RLIS grant award.

For more information on the annual SRSA application process, consult the "Applicant Information" page on the SRSA program website. Be sure to also check out the Application section on the "Frequently-Asked Questions" page. If you need further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact your ED program officer.
