Destiny Reed Awarded 2017 Frank "Dean" Cone Scholarship

Sheila Cone presenting to Destiny Reed

Destiny Reed is a graduate of Palmyra High School in Palmyra, Missouri.  She is currently a student at Truman State University, in Kirksville, Missouri working on a Master’s Degree in Education with a focus on English Education.

Destiny shares that rural living is as much of a part of her as is her love for teaching.  Her outstanding educational experience in her hometown is what encouraged her to become an educator.  She plans to make sure that her rural students learn the same principles of self-efficacy and compassion that she learned growing up.  She intends to provide her students with high-quality experiences so that they can continue to change the world.

One of her college instructors shares that Destiny is an engaging young woman, with a lively mind and gracious personality.  She is confident that Destiny will become a highly successful teacher.  Another professor notes that Destiny is a credit to her community, her family and to Truman State University.  A high school administrator shares that Destiny is honest, outgoing and has a work ethic second to none.  He adds further that she is always willing to help those in need.

We are pleased to recognize Ms. Destiny Reed as the 2017 Frank “Dean” Cone Scholarship recipient!
