McKinzie Cooper

2016 David M. Cooper Scholarship Recipient

McKinzie Cooper - 2016 David M. Cooper Scholarship Recipient

McKinzie Cooper is a graduate of Neosho High School in Neosho, MO.  She is currently a student at Missouri State University, Springfield, MO working on a major in Elementary Education.

McKinzie shares that she has always had a passion for working with young children.  In fact, she made her decision to become a teacher when she was in grade school.   McKinzie serves as the Director of the YMCA After School Program at Benton Elementary School in Neosho.  She is also serving as a substitute teacher for the Neosho R-V School District.    McKinzie has confidence that these work experiences will prepare her to lead her own classroom in the near future.

One of her college instructors shares that McKinzie is an exceptional student, who already “thinks” like an elementary teacher.  She is eager, hard working, cooperative and readily takes on leadership roles.    She sets a positive example of what a “model student” should be.  Students, parents and staff members will be drawn to her.

Her desire to give back to students in a rural education setting makes it appropriate to congratulate McKinzie Cooper as the 2016 David M. Cooper Scholarship recipient.
