2014 Fall Conference Draft Outline of Scheduled Events

Fall 2014 Annual MARE Conference

The Missouri Association of Rural Education is pleased to announce that the annual MARE Conference will be held on October 26-28, 2014 at the Country Club Hotel & Spa in Lake Ozark, Missouri.

The annual conference, a highlight of the year for our members, will provide a great opportunity for board members, administrators, and staff to network and exchange valuable information.  Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from recognized speakers, learn during topical workshops, and view and visit selected exhibits.  As part of this conference, school board members will have the opportunity to complete their 16 hours of required training.  Registration for the conference may be completed on the MARE website – www.moare.com .

Draft outline of scheduled events:

Sunday Afternoon – October 26, 2014:

  • Opening Ceremony/Remarks/Pledge
  • School Board Training (1st four hours)
  • Opening Session – Keynote Speaker – Laurie Guest – This fast-faced, fun and interactive program will give you tools to blend for your own energizer. You’ll leave with new pep and excitement – and joy – for your job.  When you savor this “cup of sanity,” Laurie’s humor and wisdom will make you want to visit her ideas daily.
  • Small Group Session (5-6 different informational topics)
  • Annual Outstanding Awards Banquet (part of registration package) – (9 individuals will be recognized for their contributions to rural education).  Evening speaker/entertainment – Rik Roberts – Mr. Roberts is a comedian having appeared on CMT’s  “20 Greatest Redneck Moments”, “Bananas Family Comedy” and is a favorite on Blue Collar Radio.

Monday – October 27, 2014:

  • Breakfast (provided as part of registration package)School Board Training (2nd & 3rd four hour sessions)
  • Small Group Session (5-6 different informational topics)
  • General Session – Part 1 – Legal Topic – presented by Mickes Goldman O’Toole Law Firm
  • General Session – Part 2 – Alan Schmidt – MUSIC/AJG – School Safety Responsibilities 
  • Luncheon (provided as part of registration package)
  • Small Group Session (5-6 different information topics)
  • General Session – Part 3 –Tom Durkin with MO Attorney General’s Office – Sunshine Law
  • General Session – Part 4 – Aaron Likins – Providing districts assistance with Autism Training
  • Opening of Exhibits
  • Annual MARE Membership Meeting
  • Evening Reception with the Exhibitors

Tuesday – October 28, 2014:

  • Breakfast with the Exhibitors (provided as part of the registration package)
  • School Board Training (4th four-hour session)
  • Small Group Session (3 different information topics)
    • Legal Topic presented by Tueth Keeney Law Firm
    • Educator Evaluation Process – Marc Doss/David Lineberry
    • Tips on Preventing/Solving District Problems – Mike Ringen (FLITEleades)
  • Closing General Session with a program on Legal Updates
    • Budget Planning for FY15 – Representatives with L.J. Hart & Co.
    • Legal Topic – presented by MO EdCouncil.
  • Conference Adjournment

Throughout the conference, attendees will have the opportunity to win some of the door prizes provided by MARE and/or Associate Members.
