Catherine Ann Carson

2013 CTS Scholarship Recipient

Catherine Ann Carson is this year’s recipient of the Control Technology Solutions (CTS) Scholarship.  Catherine is a graduate of Cole Camp Missouri High School.  She is currently attending the University of Central Missouri at Warrensburg, majoring in Art Education.

Catherine shares that the twisting of the cloverleaf interchanges, the geometric precision of steel bridges, and the bright perfection of form and lines ruled out in weatherproof aluminum are beautiful in their own way.  However, they cannot compare with the infinite varieties of plant and animal life along a simple gravel road in the country.  To me the mystery is not that anyone should want to be a teacher in a rural community, but that a person might wish to be anywhere else.  When I become an art teacher, I will shut the classroom door and be able to be off in a world of endless fascination, and not be just an ordinary job, but something to look forward to each day.

One of her college professors shares that Catherine has shown consistently strong curriculum development skills and ideas, as well as an excellent work ethic.  When visiting a local elementary school, Catherine showed an ability to orchestrate discussions and discovery sessions about art using a wonderfully designed min-museum on a well known artist.

Building on a desire to carry on a family tradition in teacher education, we offer congratulations to Catherine Ann Carson as the 2013 CTS Scholarship recipient.
