Megan Hunolt

2010 David M. Cooper Scholarship

Megan Hunolt is a graduate of Knox County High School, Edina, Missouri.  She is currently attending the University of Missouri – Columbia, Missouri, majoring in Secondary Education – Language Arts.

Megan shares her rural experiences:

I’m from the tire swinging on the outstretched arm of an old maple tree,

From the sweet potato sprouts across the gravel road

And the passenger side of a rusted out Chevy.

I’m from homemade strawberry jam,

From watermelon, right out of the patch

And cookie dough that never makes it to the oven.

I’m from a school in which I could name every one of my classmates,

From the front page of the local paper when I made the honor roll,

And a class I didn’t want to get in trouble in, in case my teacher would see my mom at the store.

I’m from the idea that you can be anything you want to be,

That hart work pays off

And that education is of the utmost importance.

One of her former teachers shares that Megan possesses an affable demeanor, which she bestows towards teachers and students alike.  Her enthusiasm and excitement is contagious around school.

One of her professors shares that Megan’s academic record illustrates that she is a driven individual.  Megan is always willing to share her ideas, thoughts, and questions.  Her attitude, and the spirit with which she tackled and approached assignments, was always positive and seeking growth.

Congratulations to Megan Hunolt, the 2010 David M. Cooper Scholarship recipient.
