2005 Outstanding Rural Middle School Teacher

Nicole Pellet

2005 marks the third year of outstanding service that Nicole Pellett has given to education. Mrs. Pellett is a sixth grade English and Social Studies Teacher in the Liberal Middle School in Liberal, Missouri.

Nicole is described by a co-worker, as one of the most dynamic and enthusiastic teachers I have had the privilege to work with. Mrs. Pellett's enthusiasm for education spills over to her students and allows them to have success in school. Mrs. Pellett's support and encouragement of students is not limited to the classroom. She encourages her students to become involved in their community and surroundings to make it a better place. This is accomplished through classroom projects that allow her students to become better acquainted with area businesses and people of the community.

Mrs. Pellett is known for one of her unique techniques to excite students. Mrs. Pellett and her class have taken a stuffed bulldog named "Bubba" and have sent him around the world to learn about different cultures. "Bubba" has been in every state of the United States, across Asia, Taiwan, China, Japan, and is getting ready to leave for Slovania in 2005. Another project that Mrs. Pellett does is called "Book in a Box." The students choose an author, gather as much information as they can about the author, and then design a box that shows the authors life and work.

The students in Mrs. Pellett's classes would walk through fire for her because they know she genuinely cares for them. Thanks to Mrs. Pellett's dedication and ability, she is teaching her students of the Liberal Middle School, not only skills that will help them in the classroom, but also valuable life skills necessary to compete successfully with the world of the future.

Mrs. Pellett's dedication to the field of education, her desire for excellence and her ability to teach the value of life is un-paralleled.

Congratulations to Mrs. Nicole Pellett as the Missouri Outstanding Rural Middle School Teacher for 2005.
